About...

I begin each painting with acrylic and collage using geometric graphics, art papers, and photos.  I like working in series, with a set of images, revisiting and reconfiguring them until they morph into the next series.  I’ve always been fascinated by dichotomies, such as Simple/Complex, Ancient/Modern, Order/Chaos.  These themes are always present in my work.

When I paint the final layer of oils, I work with a vocabulary of organic and geometric forms, to create abstractions of physical and psychological terrain.  Many times I’m painting a landscape or I’m mapping an emotion, conveying a visual story that transforms an everyday image with new meaning.  I like paint to quiet the collages, bringing them to a meditative place, where dichotomies coexist without loosing their inherent tension.
